Optical Galerie was established in 1977 by Ursula Cubranich (1938–2023), a second-generation optical professional with deep roots in European opticianry. In 1948, her father Hans Wilhelm Kohler became an Optikmeister and opened his practice on the island of Sylt in Germany.

In 1988, Ursula's son Mark joined the business after earning an Associate degree in Applied Science in Opticianry and completing the Virginia state licensing exam. After more than 26 years in Hatfield, Optical Galerie relocated to Souderton in 2004. Ursula retired in 2006, and Mark continues the practice today with the same attention to detail and quality.

In January 2026, we celebrated 22 years in Souderton and over 49 years serving Montgomery and Bucks County. While Pennsylvania does not require licensure, Optical Galerie remains firmly committed to professional standards and expertise.
